To all my friends.
I am just back from a wonderful voyage on
Cunard's Queen Mary 2 where I was the Art
instructor on board. We visited Capetown, Rio de
Janeiro, Barbados, Florida, New York and then on
to Southampton. Cant wait until October for
the next one on board Queen Victoria and
cruising around the Med.
My first exhibition in Ireland opens on Saturday
3rd July at the Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon,
Co Clare at 5pm and runs until 29th July. It is
a joint exhibition with Richard Sharpe, Michael
O Connor and Tom Prendercast. My work will be
displayed on the first floor of the gallery
known as the Red Couch space, and you are also
welcome to visit my studio where you might spot
some interesting paintings. You and a friend
are invited. Thank you for all your support in
the past and I do hope you can make the opening.
You can see some new work on my web page at
www.michaelhanrahan.net
and I am also on Facebook and Flickr. Do please
comment on my work as the feedback is great to
get.
With kind regards,
Michael Hanrahan. |
To all my friends,
I am here on the tropical island of Ko Samui
since 12th January and the weather is beautiful.
Around 35 degrees everyday and plenty of lovely
thai food, Tiger Prawns, Snapper, Tuna, Shark,
and Lobster. I have done a lot of painting and
swimming everyday to keep cool. I return to
Ireland on 10th March and hope the springtime
has arrived there. Fingers crossed.
I got an unexpected invitation from Florida last
week inviting me to join the world cruise with
Cunard on board Queen Mary 2.next month. My role
will be Art instructor and I pick up the cruise
in Capetown, South Africa on 25th March 2010.
The liner will travel to South America, calling
at Rio de Janeiro, on to Bridgetown, Barbados,
The Everglades, and up to New York. It then
crosses the Atlantic to Southampton and back to
New York. I am thrilled with this great
opportunity and looking forward very much to it.
After that it is back to County Clare and my
studio at The courthouse in Ennistymon. I
will get my latest work on my web page

With best wishes to you all,

To all my
friends,
2009 has been an exciting year for me. The studio at the
Courthouse Gallery in Ennistymon has been wonderful and
I share it with the brilliant Polish Photographer Olga.
In May i worked with Kenneth Webb in Connemara and
painted around Ballyconnelly, Clifden, and Roundstone.
RESIDENCIES.
In June 09 I was invited by Richard du Stackpoole to
the Errisbeg & Stable Gallery in Roundstone, Connemara.
I stayed there for 2 weeks and shared the house with the
talented Italian artist Roberto Carli. Weather was
brilliant and we saw Connemara at its best. During the
year I studied under Trevor Geoghegan at the Burren
College of Art in Ballyvaughan,Co Clare. Thanks to the
President Mary Hawkes Green for all the encouragement
she gave me.
In September I stayed for 2 weeks at the Cill Rialaig
Project at Ballinskelligs Co Kerry. Each artist is
allocated a renovated cottage in the restored pre famine
village on the Bolus peninsula. The scenery is
breathtaking and well worth a visit. Artists from
Canada, England, Ireland, and Czech Republic were my
fellow artists during this wonderful time. Huge credit
to Noelle Campbell Sharpe for having the insight and
determination to complete this project and rebuild this
facility for artist, writers, and sculptors from all
over the world.
